What are wood flowers?
Handmade from the tapioca plant (also biodegradable and eco friendly), wood flowers are naturally cream in color, but are dyed many different colors, using food safe dye. It is a tropical species of the Euphorbiaceae (spurge) family. Poinsettias and castor oil plants also belong to this family. The tapioca plant is known by many names: cassava, manioc, arrowroot, and sometimes yuca (don't get that confused with the yucca succulent plant). Tapioca plants grow in tropical climates and are native to South America. These plants are extremely drought resistant. This plant is not meant to be ingested unless it is processed. Once processed, the tapioca plant is used for several different types of foods in several different countries and cultures. While they are made from wood, they are soft and natural looking. Since each flower is handcrafted, no two are exactly the same and that variation is what makes each flower so unique and beautiful.
